About the Role


Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist provides a great variety of tactical support to the facility and corporate quality and food safety programs / processes and also provides administrative support to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews and coordinates all customer questionnaires related to QA, Food Safety and Supply Chain programs for F&B/Flavors North America. Coordinates and responds to QA and Supply Chain questions in customer RFP’s/RFI's and Quality Contracts/Agreements with accurate Symrise program information.
  • Is responsible for the timely compilation of the technical responses and follows-up on required information from the various Symrise departments within the given time frame.
  • Fills out customer questionnaires (as documents or in customer portals) and maintains information in Symrise corporate databases, as prescribed.
    Coordinates and follows up on the implementation of corrective actions resulting from customer complaints, customer audits, supplier audits, third party/certification audits.
  • Writes technical decisions/reports concerning customer complaints and corrective actions, in SAP.
  • Coordinates and drafts the written responses to customers concerning complaints and customer audits and releases responses with approval from QA management.
  • Formulates technical responses to customers in cooperation with US-Legal in insurance cases, as directed.
  • Acts as site (Teterboro, Branchburg or Elyria) administrator and support for SymIMS document management system and provides support and expertise in procedural development, amendment and approvals. Performs the activities of "author/creator" and "reviewer" in SymIMS document (policy, procedure, instruction) management process.
  • Is a member of the site HACCP/food safety team and represents F&;B/Flavor Quality Assurance at the at Site HACCP/Food Safety Team meetings. Provides data and metrics to the meeting and raises applicable quality & food safety issues/risks in order that they may be addressed appropriately
  • Performs food safety and quality inspections and audits in the manufacturing plants. Documents and reports observations/findings and any non-conformances that are observed. Issues nonconformance reports to applicable staff and department heads
  • Supports the site Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) Team by performing scheduled sampling (swabbing) and recording data.
  • Develops and/or provides monthly, quarterly, annual QA reports and scorecards (customer complaints, EMP, KPI, quality performance, SIA, COPQ, etc) as necessary and determined

About You


Required Qualifications

  • Must have college degree from 4-year institution (BS or BA)
  • Minimum 3 year's experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or service industry environment (food industry experience highly preferred)
  • Must have knowledge of food regulations (FDA, USDA, CFIA, EC)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SAP preferred
