THIS IS AN INTRA-DEPARTMENTAL RECRUITMENT OPEN TO CURRENT MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE EMPLOYEE’S

About the Position:

The Domestic Violence Prevention Programs Manager will provide professional staff support to the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (DVCC) as well as the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team (DVFRT).

Duties may include, but are not limited to: facilitating high-level collaboration efforts on matters pertaining to domestic violence in Montgomery County; managing outreach campaigns; managing and participating in community education initiatives, event planning and budgeting; researching trends and promising practices related to domestic violence; collecting and analyzing data; drafting annual reports; and working with team members in leadership positions to schedule meetings and to draft and distribute agendas and minutes.

About the DVCC: The Montgomery County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council is a 19-member Board with the mission of reducing the incidence of domestic violence and creating a safe community for families to live free of abuse. Members represent high-level government officials as well as members of the general public. Work is done through four Committees (Victim Services, Offender Program & Policy, Legislative & Policy Planning, and Education & Outreach) as well as numerous Sub-Committees.

About the DVFRT: The Montgomery County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team is a multi-disciplinary group of professionals and community members that meets regularly to conduct in-depth examinations of the circumstances surrounding fatalities and near-fatalities that occurred between intimate partners in Montgomery County, Maryland. For each case, the Team drafts findings and recommendations with the goal of preventing similar tragedies in the future.

Additional Information:

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, business hours, exact shift TBD, periodic evening shifts for scheduled meetings and conferences will be required
  • Selected applicants may be required to complete the medical history review and drug/alcohol screening.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Considerable (3 years) experience in the domestic violence field.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

There are no preferred criteria for this position. The selection process for this position will consist of an evaluation of your training, education and experience in the following areas:

  • Experience managing programs, which may include development, monitoring, budgeting, administration, evaluation, etc.
  • Experience conducting community education and/or outreach efforts
  • Experience coordinating with various law enforcement, social service and other public or private agencies
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of civil and criminal laws related to domestic violence
