Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the instruction, job coaching, guidance, direction, and educational leadership of students enrolled in LiFT University's Transition Program. The program manager is expected to understand and demonstrate the use of curriculum, instruction, academic and behavioral accommodations, assessments, and improvement models to maximize the academic and social/emotional achievements for all students; work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful of diversity.
Minimum Requirements:
Education, Experience and/or Knowledge:
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 years culinary experience: management, coaching, food prep
- 2 years experience working with young adults with neuro-diversity
- Experience in curriculum development and accommodations for special education students.
- Experience with and implementation of Support Plans preferred.
- Knowledge of various educational disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of character education/social skills development.
- Knowledge of Life Skills Curriculum.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- A valid Florida Drivers License is required with an acceptable driving record.
- Successful Completion of a State and Federal FDLE Level 2 Background Screening.
- Must attain a CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Supervisory Responsibilities;
The Vocational Program Manager’s supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to the performance, planning, intervention strategies, instruction, safety, and educational and behavioral achievements for their students during school hours.
Instructional Responsibilities;
- Will conduct classroom instruction 5 days per week.
- Will teach Culinary Arts to young adults
- Will manage a catering team
- Will serve as a Job Coach
- Will manage and complete all student vocational plans, with the support of job coaches.
- Design lesson plans and utilize a variety of instructional methodologies to address to promote student engagement in learning all the time through such strategies as active learning, hands-on application, teacher-student and student-student conversations about learning.
- Identify long-range goals and specific objectives and plan a program using a variety of techniques and materials for individualized and group instruction.
- Assess student growth weekly, record results, and track student achievement.
- Utilize appropriate technology and software to support instruction.
- Utilize LiFT Support Plan goals to plan for instruction.
- In conjunction with the Director of LiFT University Transition Program, the Vocational Program Manager will participate in the eligibility determination process by assessing the student’s educational, social, and behavioral needs.
Program, Student, and Behavioral Management;
- Uses appropriate classroom management techniques to meet the needs of the student and the group.
- Serve as a liaison and advocate for students between community partners, co-workers, and families/residential service providers. Ensure student performance is monitored and meets Community Partner requirements. Provide follow along support as necessary.
- Help facilitate the formation and development of social integration between students, co-workers, and community partners.
- Encourage personal growth.
- Develop the students understanding of cause and effect/actions and consequences.
- Help students build vocabulary, develop effective language expression, and teach listening.
- In conjunction with the Director of LiFT University Transition Program, manage and implement various behavioral management strategies and utilize adaptive equipment as provided.
- In conjunction with the ITSO, Vocational Program Managers will establish and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment. Program Manager will participate in and train students on emergency procedures.
- Conducts on-going student supervision in the classroom.
Job Development;
- Network with families and friends to assist with job development leads.
- Make contacts through phone calls and personal interviews with community businesses to identify internships for students in the LU Program.
- Accompany students on job interviews as appropriate.
- Assures completion of pre- and post-employment activities (i.e. thorough job analyses, time studies, establishing procedures for tracking worker performance and site notebook set-up.)
- Participates with Supported Employment Program interdisciplinary team members, including consumers and parents, in determining appropriate job matches between consumers and available jobs.
- Maintains documentation of job development, job placement, and other related activities.
- Support and train job coaches.
Family and Community Relations;
- Holds conferences with pupils, parents, the Director of LiFT University Transition Program and/or supportive personnel regarding the pupils’ academic and social development.
- Recognizes parent and family contributions are vital to educational and behavioral goal achievements.
- V.P.M.’s will participate in the expansion and growth of LiFT inc. by allowing parent tours, donor tours and media relations to view their classrooms during classroom instructional time frames.
- V.P.M.’s may be asked to participate in community and media relations by attending and/or speaking at events.
Professional Development;
- Will participate in all in-service and professional development activities offered by LiFT. Online and off-campus opportunities may become available.
- Completes mandatory reading on relevant topics as assigned.
- Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification
Terms of Employment:
- Employment with LiFT Inc. is At Will
- Work Basis: Monday through Friday 40 hours/week. Days and Hours may vary.
- Regular attendance; 100% onsite; strict adherence to work schedule.
- Professional dress attire.
- Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
- Evening and Saturday hours as required due to activities, meetings, and events.
- Some driving as required.
- Participates on committees as needed.
- Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with LiFT’s approved compensation plan.
- Performance Evaluations conducted annually.

When dealing with students it may entail kneeling, squatting, stooping and bending on an occasional to frequent basis on a given day.
