McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products. Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing all equipment operator functions in the absence of regular operator(s). When operator functions are not required, incumbent is responsible for insuring all assigned factory equipment and work areas are continuously clean and sanitary.

Key Responsibilities:

As Relief Operator:

• Understand the principles and techniques of the quality management process and integrate these techniques into every aspect of the job.
• Understand GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and integrate these concepts into all aspects of the job.
• Incumbent will be required to perform as a relief operator in positions determined by supervision. These positions include, but are not limited to: Fryer Operator (Tot, Prime, or Parfried Hashbrowns) Peeler Operator, HB Attendant, Cutter Operator, Mixer Attendant, Dock Attendant, ADR Operator, Packaging Line Operator, IQF Systems Operator, Lineflow Attendant, Shaker Room Attendant, Forklift Operator, and Palletizer Operator.
• Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations, including active involvement in BOS program.

As Clean Up and Sanitation:

• Clean and sanitize equipment and areas assigned per established procedure.
• Use appropriate cleaning materials and chemicals to perform sanitation requirements.
• Remove potato and other waste from equipment, machinery and work areas.
• Use appropriate equipment and cleaning methods including, but not limited to: high pressure hose, foaming machinery, cleaning agents, hand scrubbing, sweeping, and shoveling.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience as an Operator in a manufacturing facility is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Must have demonstrated computer skills and experience with the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is required.

Physical Demand:

Constant: standing on regularly scheduled shift and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently: Walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.

Occasionally: Sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust.
