SolarEdge Engineering in California is working on developing new products related to solar and e-mobility (EV) industries. all projects involve full engineering design cycle, from concept to prototype to production. Our engineering teams are constantly pushing the boundaries beyond industry standards to achieve products of highest reliability, efficiency and lowest cost.
SolarEdge is looking for a seasoned Power Electronics / Control Expert to technically lead new power electronics product research and development. You will own power Inverters / convertors topology trade-off analysis and the control algorithms definitions, and support the HW / FW teams in implementation and troubleshooting through all product lifecycle stages.

Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Technical leadership for all designs from topologies research, through simulations, design, development and testing of power electronics products in renewable and EV mobility area.
  • Own the topology trade-off analysis, simulations and the control algorithms definition while working in collaboration with HW and FW engineers on the implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and leaders to perform cross-functional tasks such as HW/FW/System development and review process, EMI design and testing, FMEA, PCB layout design, lab testing troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Lead the design and analysis of high frequency magnetics in collaboration with the HW team and magnetics manufacturers.
  • Innovate technologically to enhance performance, cost, TTM and reliability of our products.
  • Handling of IPs internal and external with HQ patents team.
  • Own and lead the professional training for HW and Power electronics engineers in the department and act as their professional mentor.
  • Assist management decision making process based on technical data.

Required Skills and Qualifications*:

  • MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with focus in Power Electronics.
  • 10+ years of experience with designing power electronics systems.
  • Hands on experience with 600V and 1200V class switching power converters.
  • Power topologies experience including AC-DC (PFC), isolated DC-DC and DC-AC.
  • Familiar with power semiconductors: MOSFETs, IGBTs, etc.
  • Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink, PSPICE, or equivalent.
  • Experience as technical lead in power electronics products development.
  • Excellent presentation skills, ability to communicate technical topics with both technical and non-technical functions in the organization.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers at all levels of expertise.

Additional Preferred: *

  • Experience with Soft-switching and resonant topologies.
  • Experience in relevant or similar industries: motor drives, power supplies, etc.
  • Experience with GaN and SiC power components.
  • Familiar with HIL systems implementation and testing.
  • Experience with EMI design and practical troubleshooting.
  • Complete product life-cycle experience.
