Plant Supervisor
Job Summary:
- Directs the operation workforce to effectively operate the processing and shipping equipment while minimizing downtime, controlling costs and ensuring employee safety and health and environmental stewardship at all times.
- Supervises the day to day operations to produce and ship a quality product with customer focus at the forefront.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Directs and coordinates activities of the operations personnel engaged in the process to obtain budget and production/shipping objectives.
- Schedules all production and shipping work to ensure continuous production operations.
- Understands preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and manufacturers recommendations to minimize downtime.
- Reviews product, quality control and maintenance reports to plan and modify production activities.
- Inspects operating equipment for conformance with operating standards.
- Develops new methods and procedures to improve operations and minimize operating costs.
- Confers with management and other department heads to resolve production and shipping problems and recommend operational improvements.
- Participates in the selection, training, evaluation and discharge of personnel as required.
- Ensures personnel are qualified and well trained in assigned tasks as well as with VMC and MSHA safety, health and environmental requirements.
- Complies with all environmental, health, safety & training policies, procedures and requirements.
- Familiar with and enforces all VMC policy and procedures including safety, health and environmental.
- Compiles and communicates required reporting per the department needs and or that of the operation.
- Orders, stock and maintains parts and supplies per the department’s needs.
- Conducts safety meetings and facility safety, health and environmental inspections as required.
- Participates in community related activities with facility personnel and/or facility management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Experience: 3 years in the aggregate mining industry or 5 years in a construction related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
