The Development Team at Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI) is on the lookout for a Philanthropy Specialist! This position will serve the North Central Washington area in the Wenatchee and Okanogan County Communities.
The Philanthropy Specialist supports the mission of Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI) by working closely with the Chief Development Officer and the Development Team to foster donor engagement in PPGWNI programs and services, collaboration with development and program staff to build personalized cases of support and grant proposals for major donors and philanthropic foundations, and supporting the implementation of fundraising campaigns, events and stewardship activities.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) working Monday-Friday with the possibility of weekend and evening work. This position can be partially or fully remote, but we require that candidates be located in Central or Eastern Washington and within a short commute to Wenatchee or Okanogan communities.
Requirements:Core Responsibilities
- In collaboration with Development and External Affairs colleagues, PPGWNI leadership staff and partners; meet or surpass annual fundraising goals.
- Be a full participant on the Development team in analyzing metrics and crafting strategies to secure philanthropic gifts to the affiliate.
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events throughout PPGWNI’s service region.
- Research, cultivate, steward, and solicit current and new donors through actions that include virtual and in-person meetings, extending personal invitations to attend and sponsor PP events, delivering follow-up communications, sharing personalized expressions of gratitude, providing updates on PP programs and services, etc.
- With guidance and support from VP of External Affairs, manage an assigned portfolio of major and prospective donors, and current donors on the cusp of meeting the major gift threshold of $2,500.
- Engage donors and solicit gifts for capital projects in North Central WA including new health center locations in Wenatchee and Omak.
- Participate in the development of departmental budget preparation and work to achieve revenue and expense targets.
- Serve as a role model for our In This Together (ITT) workplace values and service standards.
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to travel to health centers and other locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Competence in MS Office programs including Word and Excel is required.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and successfully multitask and prioritize workload is essential.
- Must be able to speak publicly, prepare and give presentations, and successfully manage interpersonal relationships.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills, and show respect, tact and decorum in all interpersonal and technology driven communication.
- Must have valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle and provide proof of vehicle insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with fundraising, or donor engagement.
Travel
- Required up to 50% of the time to various PPGWNI health centers and events.
- Valid unencumbered driver's license, proof of insurance, and personal vehicle required.
- Travel will be reimbursed and time spent traveling is paid.
