Atlantic Health System is seeking a per-diem Patient Transporter for the Transport Services at Newton Medical Center to work 11PM - 7AM, including every other weekend.
Responsibilities:
Essential Function/Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of Manager or Lead Patient Transporter, transports patient, equipment, and supplies, as needed, as well as morgue duties and assisting with minor environmental services duties.
- Promotes a positive customer service culture. Provides general comfort measures to patients throughout the shift.
- Provides postmortem care and assists in transporting body to the morgue and releasing the body from the morgue.
- Makes specimen rounds from all nursing floors.
- Responsible for pick up of medical records.
- Safely assist patient transfers, transports, and discharges.
- Takes extra pillow from patient room closet back to Ed when returning stretch to ED.
- Reports any changes in condition or behavior to patients primary Registered Nurse.
- Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process.
- Safely handle all patient belongings from admission and discharges.
- Is able to initiate CPR.
- Is able to initiate Code Gray and applies restraints safely according to hospital procedure.
- Responds to hospital codes that apply to transport.
- Transports equipment used by patient in the transfer.
- Exchanges oxygen tanks for transports daily.
- Installs bed traction and removal when ordered.
- Inspects and make minor repair to wheelchairs and maintain log. Completes inventory of wheelchair stock quarterly or as assigned.
- Responsible for minor Environmental Services duties as assigned when patient transports are slow. Duties may consist of buffing floors, vacuuming, dust moping, etc.
Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Minimum Experience:

Hard working individual with strong work ethic.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
