Job Summary and Qualifications

The OB Surgical Technician, under direct supervision of a registered professional nurse, provides direct and indirect perioperative nursing tasks for patients requiring surgical intervention or vaginal delivery. Will assist the Labor and Delivery team in the care of patients, equipment and supplies. The OB Tech provides care for Neonatal and Newborn Infants, adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; and adult patients between 18 to 50 years.

What you will do in this role:

• You will create and maintain the sterile field.
• You will prepare the Operating Room: set up sterilized instruments, position patient and assist others with gloves and gowns.
• You will assist the surgical team as needed: pass instruments, fluids and supplies, hold retractors and prepare equipment.
• You will provide proper counting techniques for all instruments, sponges and tools.
• You will assist with transport and transfer of patients.
• You will apply safety procedures and principles in all actions.

What qualifications you will need:

• Completion of a Surgical Technician Certificate Program required. Can use experience as an OR Tech in lieu of certificate program.
• BLS certification required and maintained.
• Prefer six months to one year OR experience in a scrub role.
• Must be able to read and write, hear and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Must wear hospital provided protective barrier attire while on duty.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
