Peraton is seeking tohire a Network Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS). The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions. The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation’s economy and protection of lives and property.
Optimizes network and database performance- Provides ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems
- Supports the design, installation, maintenance and coordination of the use of network systems
- Evaluates hardware and software and peripheral equipment for large, complex networks
- Manages network performance, diagnoses performance problems and undertakes tuning activities to ensure network performance meets SLR requirements
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network
- Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance and problem resolution
- Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms. Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures and standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 2+ years of related experience or Masters degree in relevant field
- This position requires one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience,
- Master's degree in relevant field
- High School education/GED with 8+ years of experience
- Variety of network technologies and solution architectures
- Broad understanding of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the networking field
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Security best practices and implementing firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies
- Continuous integration, test automation and / or SecDevOps on iterative development projects
- Agile Development methodologies
- Cisco Certifications: CCNA or CCNP
