Orthopedic Associates is seeking a Medical Records Specialist. Qualified applicant will possess or be willing to learn knowledge of HIPAA. Desired qualifications include the ability to have strong attention to detail and have superior communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of medical terminology is very helpful. The Medical Records/Health Information Management Department is responsible for scanning clinical paperwork into practice EMR as directed by practice protocol. Other responsibilities include: Process requests from patients in office, answer telephone to assist patients in retrieving copies of medical records, work with document management company to process requests, communicate with attorneys, insurance companies and Nurse Case Managers regarding patient work status and degree of disability, abide by NYS and Federal Law in processing records requests and follow all office protocol and policies as established by the practice. Experience in medical records and or medical attorney office definitely a plus but willing to train someone looking to learn a new career!

This position is FT on-site at our Poughkeepsie location, hours are 8:30a-5p.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
