MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST
GoWell Urgent Care is looking for a self-motivated, reliable, out-going individual to join our team. The ideal applicant will have excellent communication and customer service skills. Athena EMR experience is a plus!
Overview:
The ideal Medical Receptionist is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the vision, mission, and goals of GoWell Urgent Care. The ideal candidate will be a very computer savvy individual with at least two years of customer service experience preferably in an urgent care setting. He or she will greet the patients and obtain, verify, and register the patient’s insurance information prior to the patient being seen by a provider. This person will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the waiting area and monitoring documenting supply levels.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Greet patients and visitors in a personable and energetic manner upon entering the center.
- Accurately obtain / verify and electronically document patient demographic, insurance, and payment information.
- Register patients & complete / confirm insurance eligibility.
- Answer the center phone calls and route to the appropriate party.
- Schedule & manage patient appointments in Next Patient and Athena EMR systems.
- Work collaboratively with the billing staff as a liaison between the patient, the billing staff and/or the third-party billing center to explain financial requirements to the patients and collect co-pays and past due balances, when applicable.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to management team
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
- Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance.
- Compile and record medical charts, reports, and correspondence
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Perform various other administrative, and clinical support duties as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & LICENSING QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of medical office / customer service experience required. Knowledge of various insurance plans/payers (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) is highly desirable.
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment while remaining organized and professional.
- Prior EMR experience; Athena EMR is a plus!
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent and professional communication and customer service skills.
- Adhere to professional expectations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Demonstrate flexibility in relation to work schedule.
- Knowledge of Google products.
- Participate in department and company-sponsored meetings and events.

- Our clinic offers prompt, personal medical services on a walk-in basis, seven days per week
- We are open 7 days a week, 8a - 8p, 365 days a year

- We offer lab and x-ray services on location
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, and PRN positions available. All positions will be expected to work some weekends and holidays.
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All patients and staff are masked. All employees are required to be vaccinated. Exam rooms are cleaned after each patient and door handles and other surfaces are cleaned throughout the day.

COVID-19 considerations:
All employees of GoWell Urgent Care are required to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Masks are required for patients and staff while in the center. Common surfaces and exam rooms are sanitized regularly.
