About This Role

Every position at Common Citizen from seed to sale, is contributing to our mission to serve our fellow citizens of Michigan with the highest quality, safest cannabis product through our highly individualized and education-oriented provisioning centers.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is a subject matter expert responsible for developing engineering solutions in support of production operations. They are a key part of the Operations Technical Staff, and they work on priority projects and initiatives: from fertigation and grow room production to post harvest trim and product packaging. Involvement will start in the design phase of new programs until production stabilizes. This is a dynamic environment requiring dynamic skills, and as such the daily tasks may vary, resulting in a fast-paced and lively work environment. Citizens rely technical staff for support, quality control, Lean Deployment, and plant care.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Assuring work tasks within their assigned responsibilities are executed per the Standard Work with high degree of Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance

· Design assembly processes, tools, and equipment that are efficient and maintainable.

· Project manage the implementation of production equipment throughout the facility through our equipment introduction process.

· Perform as Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering Technologies and Methods

· Support Tier 1 Huddles and help promote our CC Lean Management System. (i.e., Standard Work, Time Studies and Standards, Poke-Yokes, etc.)

· Collaborate with all Citizens in improving on their daily tasks, assure proper plant quality Standards and training.

· Participate in Lean Kaizen events, Time Observation Studies, and Safety Committees

· Analyze downtime data and production data to identify priority projects, processes causing downtime, or trends in overall performance.

· Communicate with clarity and consistency to maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere.

· Provide timely and professional feedback to Leadership on Quality & Safety concerns.

· Perform other duties as required, assisting the Operations Director when necessary.

The Experience You Bring and the Skills we Need:

· Degree in Engineering/Technology with 3 plus years’ experience. Experience in equipment and production process prototyping; tool/fixture design, machining, and assembly methods. PLC and Programming experience a plus

· Must be proactive problem solver, able to influence others in a professional and courteous manner, encourage Lean Thinking and Continuous Improvement

· Must have strong attention to detail and hold themselves and others accountable to Quality Standards of Work. Solid communication and documentation skills.

· Must have Microsoft Word, Excel and CAD/CAM skills. Some Advanced Programming experience is helpful but not required.

· Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Ability to communicate using electronic media such as Slack and Outlook Email.

· Problem solving skills.

· This is a dynamic team, and as such daily tasks may vary, resulting in a fast-paced and lively work environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a greenhouse environment (tolerance of heat & humidity).
