Established in 2011, W2Fuel LLC is a producer and marketer of biodiesel within the advanced biofuel industry. W2Fuel owns and operates two biodiesel production facilities, located in Adrian, MI and Crawfordsville, IA, that provide up to 20 million gallons per year of high-grade biodiesel to the Michigan, Ohio, and Iowa markets. General Accountability: Responsible for overall maintenance activities to ensure safety, and environmental compliance of the plant, while setting a standard of efficiency for the processes.
This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Incumbents in this class are assigned a variety of task requiring skills in various trades and performed under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as gear boxes, motors, compressors, and pumps. Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, push buttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed.
- Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments.
- Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools and other metal working equipment if necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance on various types of industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment.
- Perform upgrades to manufacturing equipment that supports improvements in safety, quality, and on time delivery.
- Program & troubleshoot PLC programs / control systems.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
- Take control of situations, understand concept and complete start to finish without constant supervision of tasks needed.
- Communicate with operators, tasks/repairs that are needed and have a game plan to complete these tasks.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Familiar with NEC, NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Provide assistance to Operations team in the form of taking samples, running/monitoring equipment of the plant processes.
- Read, perform and write work orders MaintainX.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with training Production Technicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Core Competencies:
- Experience with AC/DC electrical control and power circuits.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, boiler, chiller and pneumatic systems.
- Basic Computer skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints.
- Mechanical skills required, but not limited to working with pumps, heat exchangers, valves & pipe repairs.
- 2 year Associates Degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Willingness to get along with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting Up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting.
