General Description:

Works safely daily following company and OSHA requirements and help ensure equipment is running a safe manner. Troubleshoots equipment failure using logical and methodical practices and performs mechanical and basic electrical repairs on machinery and equipment. Repairs or fabricates machine parts as required utilizing a variety of tools and skills. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on equipment on a routine basis.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience/Knowledge

  • 3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance minimum.
  • Basic welding ability of carbon steel (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Ability to read and work from mechanical blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic operations/troubleshooting
  • Basic troubleshooting methods
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Understanding of rigging fundamentals.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Machine maintenance experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Stamping die assembly and troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, use multimeters and other basic electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical problems.
  • Proficient in the set-up and operation of tool room equipment, such as vertical mill, lathes, surface, ID/OD grinders.
  • Experience with gas fired combustion ovens.
  • Proficient in welding aluminum, stainless and high carbon steels. (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Related technical degree a plus.
  • Experience with LEAN application, including 5S and SMED principles, is a plus.
  • Experience working within a TPM program a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Observes plant safety rules. Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern. Assists in monitoring of quality of work output and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments in the cleanliness and organization of working areas when projects overlap other department areas.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks as directed by Supervisor, including lubrication as needed. Performs repairs and general maintenance in all areas of manufacturing plant. Aids in upkeep of parts and supplies inventory.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and rebuilds all types of mechanical equipment and machinery, including, but not limited to, die stamping press, ovens, conveyors, pulleys, gears, clutches, bearings, sprockets, belts, chains, pumps, piping systems and any related sub-assemblies.
  • Performs facility type mechanical repair and installation in all buildings on as-needed basis.
  • Completes required documentation such as work orders, preventative maintenance and die set sheets or any other documentation that may be required.
  • Repair parts and tooling by welding, grinding, milling and turning to precision tolerances and specified finishes.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments such as micrometers (inside and outside), indicators, calipers, dial bore gauges.
  • Assembles, tests and installs new production equipment or modifications to existing equipment as instructed by supervision and/or engineering.
  • Sets up, adjusts and operates all machinery and equipment and makes ready for start-up.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs minimum
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • Willingness to work all/any shifts.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights when required.
  • Able to work both inside and outside assignments
