Primary Role

As a Consultant, you will be responsible for managing the Medical Stop Loss RFP and Underwriting process, project manage, grow new sales and retain your own book of Stop Loss business. Working under direct supervision of a VP of Sales or COO or CSO, you will have the opportunity to exercise independent and creative thinking to achieve defined sales and profitability goals. By embracing our quality standards of integrity, urgency, ownership and acting as a caring professional, you will grow, retain, and enhance client experience while creating loyal clients and advisors.

Job Functions:
Evaluate, price and propose rate strategy on Stop-Loss proposals, including specific and aggregate benefits

Analyze case-level information to properly assess risk and provide client centric solutions

Operate within established underwriting guidelines and profitability targets

Manage the sold case process including review of required sold case paperwork, case contingencies, and final individual risk assessment

Independently manage work flow for the client life-cycle

With VP Sales / CSO develop sales and renewal strategies

Preparation of renewal and new business proposals, presentation materials and supporting documents as necessary (benefit and financial analysis)

Assist claims, eligibility, billing and plan administration advocacy and resolution with SBR associates in timely manner for clients

Carrier and Vendor contract review, analysis and negotiations

Maintain effective working relationships with Carriers and Vendors

Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards

Demonstrates independent decision making while recognizing and accounting for anticipated consequences

Identify and assess the impact of emerging market conditions

Display teamwork and collaboration with internal and external partners

Participate in the development and execution of company initiatives

Other duties as required by clients, business needs or assigned by management

Knowledge and Skills:
Preference of 5 years minimum of Stop-Loss underwriting experience

Skilled at balancing tight timelines and competing priorities while maintaining a customer-focused positive attitude

Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite - specifically Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Project Management experience a plus

Experience managing confidential information (HIPAA)

Pleasant ‘can-do’ customer service attitude

High level of personal initiative, integrity and professional ethics

Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations both internally and externally

Commitment to on-going professional continuing education

Proven ability to be responsive, have high attention to detail, task-oriented and an administrative focus

Experience and Education

BA/ BS College Degree, or equivalent job experience

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Strong math, communication, negotiations and analytical skills required

High degree of multi tasking ability and have the ability to manage high volume workload with competing demands

Experience with SalesForce a plus, not required

Minimum 2 to 4 years’ experience working with Employee Benefits Programs in a brokerage or equivalent setting preferred but not required

Department Account Management & Service

Required Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 25%

Required Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
