Role Summary

The New Patient Liaison is responsible for dealing primarily with the care of patients and working closely with clinical staff, front desk personnel and other related departments to the

Los Angeles Cancer Network (OneOncology affiliated medical practice). Those with excellent customer service and communication skills, with ability to work independently in a busy, high energy environment while maintaining a professional and patient-friendly demeanor will be highly sought after. Those with knowledge of the healthcare insurance landscape, patient financial assistance programs and other community services should highlight these skills when applying.

Responsibilities

  • Receive telephone calls and emails from referring doctors.
  • Receive telephone calls and emails from patients desiring to see our providers.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all new patients, their referring doctors and hospitals for gathering and transferring medical records.
  • Be responsible for entering all new patients in the contact log and in the Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Work closely with our physicians to schedule new patients and prepare for their first visit to our office.
  • Arrange for patient’s first appointment with our providers.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Notify new patients with reminders of their appointments or for any changes to set appointments.
  • Work closely with billing and back office personnel to obtain any needed authorizations and waivers.
  • Provide management with daily and weekly logs on new patient activity.
  • Assist new patients in accessing resources and managing paperwork for their appointments.
  • Work closely with private companies and community organizations to provide patients with services that help them to keep their appointments, begin their therapy quickly and maintain their prescribed treatment schedule.
  • Assist new and existing patients with special financial needs by referring them to patient navigators, financial counselors or advocates as appropriate.
  • Assist patients with completing financial assistance forms.
  • Assist clinical team in helping patients obtain non-clinical services, advocacy and auxiliary cancer care.

  • Maintains current understanding of health plan and regulatory changes as it affects the insurance needs of patients.

Qualifications.

  • Familiar with the process of Medical Insurance
  • Experience as a Patient Navigator a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Proficient with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
