Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Rail Track Inspector, we'll count on you to:

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for ballasted, embedded and direct fixation track construction.
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
  • Conduct or coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing
  • Participate in client development and project pursuits, and receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Work in all weather conditions and frequently on nights and weekend
  • Position is part time, on an as needed basis.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as a construction inspector, with experience in working for a rail transit agency, or railroad
  • Must be able to read and understand complex construction plans, specifications and contracts
  • Must be able to write accurate and detailed inspector’s daily reports
  • Must have experience with railroad track construction
  • Must know and understand track safety standards and apply the knowledge in the field
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to walk 5+ miles a day.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Preference given to local candidates
