Job Title: Host/Hostess,
Job Status: Full- and Part-time (hourly)
Statement of the Job
The host/hostess is responsible for a warm friendly, immediate greet to guests at the door.
Seats, and presents clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional and quick manner.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Note: These factors constitute "essential functions" of a job.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required;
- Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive, professional image;
- Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so;
- Display knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures;
- Comply with All health district/code standards;
- Must maintain a high standard of personal grooming and follow the uniform guidelines per your position and company policies;
- Valid Heath Card must be with you at all times during your shift;
- Greet Guest, internal and external, with a smile and pleasant disposition in a timely manner;
- Observe and anticipate Guest’s needs;
- Recognize Milos regulars and VIPs
- Set the tone for gracious hospitality throughout service
- Effectively multitask while handling guests
- Effectively communicate all messages to management and necessary staff
- Able to work unsupervised for extensive periods;
- Inform the immediate Supervisor of any product shortages and equipment needs;
- Have knowledge where your MSDS booklet is located for your area;
- Help ensure efficient and smooth operation of restaurant;
- Communicate all Guest opportunities/situations to management or relief personnel;
- Must have a working knowledge of all food and beverage menu items including preparation, ingredients, cooking methods, portions and prices;
- Must be aware of activity in the dining room (i.e., service to our Guest, standards being used, tables un-bussed, wait times, executives in to dine, etc.).
- Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant;
- Take names on a waiting list;
- Run the floor plan board.
- Must be able and willing to go above and beyond for all guests, both internal and external
Physical Requirements are:
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, walking and lifting;
- Stands during entire shift;
- Requires good verbal communication;
- Requires eye/hand coordination;
- Frequent washing of hands;
- Be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds regularly and intermittently up to 30 pounds on a single person lift, carrying trays of dishes, glassware and other utensils, etc, at least once per shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum experience: two (2)years;
- Minimum Education: GED; High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations in an orderly fashion;
- Able to work unsupervised for extensive periods;
- Ability to communicate effectively with Co-Workers, Management and Guests;
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well with others;
- Must adhere to all company, departmental policies, procedures, and practices;
- Must be able to handle flexible schedule;
- Must be able to take constructive criticism and be willing to always improve;
- Must demonstrate sound judgment and maturity in his or her decision-making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations;
- Must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain Estiatorio Milos appearances and operating standards;
- Must be able to take constructive criticism and be willing to always improve;
- Certificate/License: Sheriff’s card as required by location, Clark County Health Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, Gamblers’ Awareness Card, to be kept on person at all times during shift;
- Must possess strong teamwork skills.
Work Conditions:
- Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, indoor and/or outdoor service. Task performed from a non-sitting position. Team members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of an assigned area.
