Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000. Placement in the range is commensurate with experience.

The Dalton School, a K-12 independent, coeducational school located in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of about 1,300 students and a faculty and staff of approximately 350.

The Dalton School Office of Equity & Belonging [“EB”] seeks a High School Equity & Belonging Coordinator for the 2023-2024 school year. The candidate will be part of a team that supports the School’s Equity & Belonging initiatives, trajectory, and momentum. The position will report to the Chief of Equity & Belonging to develop and implement High School Programming, partner with the Peer Leadership Program, and teach one class.

Responsibilities:

• Identify High School focused initiatives and provide periodic updates on initiatives, programs, and opportunities with your division/focus area.
• Contribute to Assemblies, pertinent Programming & Public Displays.
• Contribute to the development of Dialogue Lab curriculum as well as support Dialogue Lab facilitators.
• Collaborate with the Office of Equity & Belonging to plan programming, events and activities and encourage participation from members of the division.
• Work with High School student identity groups, including leadership training. Attend House Advisor meetings as needed.
• Be a presence in the school as a support and model for EB work in the community.
• Be part of the High School Peer Leadership advisory team (participate in orientations and retreats, co-teach seminar class, attend weekly planning meetings, develop curriculum, etc.)
• Teach one class, determined based on skills and background.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support EB efforts in the school.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging focused; work with students in a K-12 educational setting is preferred.
• Commitment to progressive education, anti-racist practices, SEL competencies and student-centered pedagogy.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage across dynamics of difference, facilitate difficult conversations and address varying perspectives on a range of issues.
• High degree of oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a variety of modes.
• High-level collaboration skills with a wide range of constituencies but can also work autonomously with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated experience with designing and facilitating learning opportunities for students and adults.
• The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of discretion and sensitivity.
• Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends for school events and conferences.
