TAG West is a manufacturing division of TRUCK ACCESSORIES GROUP, LLC. (TAG) The Company is North America’s largest manufacturer and supplier of fiberglass and aluminum truck caps and Tonneaus for residential and commercial applications.

A Trailer Loading Worker will perform various basic Trailer Loading tasks and processes to achieve a finish product. The tasks will vary depending on the position in the line and can include the following duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Ensure all employees driving forklifts have completed Forklift Training.
2.Ensure all employees using safety harnesses have completed a Safety Harness Training.
3.Drive forklift/cage with caution.
4.Take care when transferring units.
5.Avoid setting units on the ground, unless otherwise told so.
6.Ensure to load units in the trailer following the order on the Daily Delivery Report.
7.Always keep the yard clean.

Beginning of the Shift Responsibilities

  • Inspect the forklift/cage.
  • Drive the forklift to the R&R Area.
  • Unload Material.
  • Unload returned units.
  • Ensure the trailer is completely empty and ready for reload.
  • Return the empty trailer to the Loading Area.
Cage Safety

  • Inspect the safety harness before using it.
  • Put on the safety harness before entering the cage.
Loading Cage

  • Ensure the unit loader and the cage driver have the same copy of the load document.
  • Follow the loading order accordingly to the type of trailer. Usually, left to right and up and down.
  • Locate the required unit using the load document.
  • Verify that the serial number on the unit matches the number on the load document.
  • Align the cage’s rails a couple inches below the unit.
  • Load campers onto the cage.
  • Load tonneaus onto the cage.
  • If the camper is heavy or multiple tonneaus need to be loaded, use the forklift.
Closed Trailer Loading

Steps (Secure the camper onto the first load bar) and (Secure the camper onto the second load bar – Position the camper in place) require two employees working simultaneously on opposite sides.

  • Prepare the closed trailer for loading.
  • CAGE - Load the camper.
  • Secure the camper onto the first load bar.
  • CAGE - Load the camper.
  • Secure the camper onto the second load bar.
  • Position the camper in place.
Open Trailer Loading

Steps (Secure the front of the camper onto the load boards. From the interior of the camper - Follow step (Secure the back of the camper onto the load boards) on the front and back of the camper) require two employees working simultaneously on opposite sides.
For campers on the top row

  • Grab 3 clamps, 1 wood block, 1 Z plates and a drill.
  • Load the camper
  • Secure the front of the camper onto the load boards. From the interior of the camper
  • Secure the back of the camper onto the load boards.
For campers on the remaining rows

  • Grab 4 clamps and a drill.
  • Follow step (Secure the back of the camper onto the load boards.) on the front and back of the camper.
  • If necessary cut the shipping boards using the hand saw, depending on the extruding length of the shipping boards.
Curtain side Trailer Loading

  • Step (Secure the back of the camper onto the load boards) requires two employees working simultaneously on opposite sides.
Loading Tonneaus/Parts

  • Load the tonneaus. Tonneaus must be on the lowest level.
  • Load Material and Parts.
Responsibilities after Loading Units

  • Once the unit/part is loaded, mark the unit/part on the load document with a pen/pencil.
  • Damaged units.
  • Return the load document with the Daily Delivery Report to the Transportation Supervisor when the trailer is loaded and ready for shipment.
Other Responsibilities

  • Load campers onto the racks.
  • Transfer tonneaus to the yard 2+ times a day.
  • Clean the yard as often as possible.
  • Collect tomorrow’s load documents along with their Daily Delivery Report from the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Locate each unit and mark all of the load documents with the unit’s rack location using a pen/pencil.
  • If a unit cannot be located.
  • Special Delivery Request.
  • Fill up the forklifts and the cage with gasoline and park them in the correct location.
  • Replace tools in their location to avoid cluttering and hazards.
  • Keep tools organized to avoid delays
  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Ability to adapt in a fast passed environment and embrace change openly
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Must be able to work over time when needed including Saturdays
  • Must be able to work under must whether conditions such as cold, rain, and hot days
  • Must be able to work on time and ready to work
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and approaches others with respect
  • Must be able to have good attendance and punctuality
  • Must be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must be able to follow policies and procedures, take responsibility for own actions, and completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person
  • Must be able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team in a time and safety sensitive environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must use the assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: Safety Glasses, ear plugs, and safety gloves
