Job Summary:

The Associate Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for the day to day monitoring of safety initiatives and concerns at the facility. They will assist with the coordination of employee safety programs, performance of safety audits and inspection of the facility to identify and correct potential hazards. They will investigate all accidents, injuries and near miss incidents to determine cause and install preventative measures going forward. The associate should support the EHS lead with developing safety metrics for all the sites.


Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate site hazardous waste disposal program.
  • Promote an EHS culture of ownership and accountability for safety of all workers and protection of the environment.
  • Review proactively the manufacturing areas and suggest ways to improve safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety trends based on performance and take proactive actions to implement corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively with EHS and laboratory management personnel to develop safety plans for current and future site activities.
  • Support all accident/incident investigation, reporting, and facilitation of Root Cause Analysis.
  • Manage safety training programs and lead required training courses at assigned locations in compliance with internal and external EHS standards.
  • Complete regular compliance tasks as required.
  • Assist assigned locations regarding environmental permit compliance, and development of environmental and safety compliance programs.
  • Ensure that the Company maintains compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Support multiple operations sites
  • Self-starter who can manage with limited direction from supervisor.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant working experience in a related field; pharmaceutical or chemical industry strongly preferred
  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations with the identify, assess and control health and safety hazards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Aseptic gowning qualification strongly preferred
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and safe operation of tools and machinery
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills with the ability resent health and safety programs
  • Proficient in office software programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
