Management of Career Pathways is handled through teacher-led committees supported by the administrative team. Teacher-led committees manage operational and learning program duties. While Career Pathways has an identified Executive Director, we have a teacher majority board, with teachers taking on leadership roles with school operations. One of the school’s contract purposes is to “create new professional opportunities for teachers, including the opportunity to be responsible for the learning program at the school site”.

Our Mission: Career Pathways works to include underserved and disenfranchised students who do not achieve well in traditional settings, but who will flourish in this unique multi-age/multi-graded environment which promotes application of learning. Research shows that all students learn better when they experience the real-life responsibilities of the job.

Our teacher led team seeks an English Language Arts Teacher for the fall of 2023. We will provide Developmental Designs training during the summer. Our class sizes are small and we have an awesome team of talented teachers who have a passion for student centered learning. We welcome newly licensed teachers and will provide coaching and professional development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Career Pathways has an opening for a Full Time English Language Arts Teacher. This teacher leader will support an advisory and create lessons based on MN Standards for 4 mixed age classes. Experience a plus as is experience in an urban school setting. We serve children in grades 6 through 12.

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current MN Secondary Level Teaching License with certification in Communication Arts/Literature required. Career Pathways is willing to assist with licensure in some circumstances. Experience as a teacher and / or tutoring a plus.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference will be given to candidates with English as a Second Language or Reading Licensure.
• High School Advising and Transcript Support.
• Successful experience with Distance Learning Instruction.
• Training and Experience with Developmental Designs classroom management.
