- Requires a Master's Degree or higher in human services, mental health or related field
- Hold or be eligible to hold a CDE License
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred
- Prefer candidates with successful experience in a school setting

- Demonstrated leadership skills in collaborative work, special projects, councils, or other educational activities
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding risk factors for children and families.
- Experience and skills in working with students and families with a wide range of cultural backgrounds, trauma histories and developmental needs.
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.

Social Emotional and Behavior Services Team
The School Engagement Specialist supports the LPS mission by coordinating interventions, outreach, and services to support student success at school. Working as a consultant to school teams and in partnership with colleagues in the Social, Emotional and Behavior Services team, the position is responsible for identifying barriers to school engagement and building relationships between students, families and school staff. This includes designing interventions, conducting home visits, connecting families to community resources, addressing barriers to school success and creating Truancy Intervention Plans. When appropriate, the position assists with the Truancy Court process and supports professional development of school staff in the area of engagement. Is involved in other activities to engage and support students and families as assigned.
Full-time position on the Licensed school year calendar starting in August, 2023.
Salary is determined by placement on the Licensed Salary Schedule according to education and experience.
