Responsibilities:
This position is designed to provide individualized, early intervention support to students at risk of function disruption or mental illness due to environmental stress, social and economic barriers, exposure to trauma, hereditary illness, and other contributing factors.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Screen, evaluate, and assess the needs of students and their families
- Complete goal setting with students, families, and school personnel that focus on improvement of academics, mental health symptoms, behaviors, social emotional development, and reduction of truancy
- Provide early intervention skills and mental health support through meeting with students on a regular basis and parents as needed
- Provide support and advocacy for students and families through home visits and connection with school-based personnel
- Assist families in working with other agencies and systems to gain necessary resources
- Master’s or higher degree in clinical field. Current Minnesota License required: LGSW, LICSW preferred; LAMFT, LMFT preferred; LPC, LPCC preferred.
- Experience working with families preferred
- Experience working with and understanding the needs and challenges of low income communities, communities of color, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender individuals, disenfranchised populations and other populations with specific needs and challenges
- Knowledge of social service systems
- Able to track and maintain data necessary for program monitoring and evaluation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and program planning and development skills
- Ability to perform basic assessment skills in order to conduct appropriate intervention and referrals
- Commitment to working in a mission driven agency
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license
- Eligible for independent licensure in social work or a related field
