Wisconsin Early Childhood Association is a statewide, nonprofit association serving as a professional association whose members care for and educate Wisconsin’s children, aged birth to eight. We are affiliated with the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Wisconsin Early Childhood Association works to build a foundation for a lifetime of learning for Wisconsin’s young children by promoting excellence in early education programs, supporting professionalism in the early childhood workforce, and calling for greater investment in quality early childcare. WECA’s mission is to meet the professional needs of adults who nurture and teach Wisconsin’s young children through a rich continuum of services.

The Wisconsin Early Education Shared Services Network (WEESSN) brings together family and center-based early care and education programs to poll resources and leverage economies of scale.

The WEESSN Early Childhood Program Start-up Coach is responsible for working with community partners to identify and recruit individuals interested in starting childcare programs. The Early Childcare Program Start-up Coach will offer training on foundational business practices, program organization, and guidance in program scope to help ensure business success. This position will work with local pre-licensing and certification organizations, community childcare supports, and other WEESSN coaches to provide warm hand-offs at the appropriate times to ensure continued and ongoing business support. The areas of responsibility for this position are the Northeastern, Southeastern & Southern regions of Wisconsin.

One position is needed: (1) family based early childcare Coach.

Must reside in the state of Wisconsin.

Spanish/English bilingual candidates with early childcare center-based administrative experience are encouraged to apply.

Living in the state of Wisconsin is required for this position.

This position is a hybrid, you will be working from your home office and going out into the community for face-to-face meetings with potential childcare providers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with community partners and build new community relations to work on recruitment processes designed to support business start-ups and identify strong candidates for incubation support
  • Analyze childcare program development operations and planning to identify appropriate supports to increase likelihood of opening successfully
  • Create strategic goals, along with program leaders and boards, design assessment metrics, and document progress towards goals on a regular basis.
  • Offer foundational childcare business training
  • Meet with WEESSN Admin team as needed to provide updates and insights; discuss community partnerships and processes to create new strategic partnerships
  • Participate in Shared Services focus groups and meetings as needed
  • Collaborate with WEESSN team at large to improve services and functions
  • Document program contacts in case management system
  • Support all activities related to WEESSN and WECA as needed

Education & Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Early Childhood or related field with 3-5 years of administrative experience OR Associate degree in Early Childhood with 5-7 years of childcare program administrative experience
  • Preferred candidate will have childcare business start-up experience
  • Ideal candidate would be fluent in Spanish and English
  • Must have or be willing to acquire the Registry’s Technical Assistance and Trainer Professional endorsement
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google programs
  • Able to communicate effectively, work independently, take initiative, problem solve, identify needs, and contribute to creative solutions
  • Candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with and understand culturally diverse populations.
  • Must clear a full background check, including fingerprinting.
  • This position involves travel; access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license is required.
