Washburn Center for Children serves more than 2,800 children ages 0-18 and approximately 8,500 family members each year. Provide daily group support floating between family focus classrooms with children ages 3-5 years old. As Group Support this individual will also play a primary role planning themes and organizing materials and have adequate staffing and therapy materials.
Responsibilities
Group Therapy – You will be required to provide group therapy, including the following:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming physical group therapy environment by ensuring the room, toys, books, and furniture in are in good condition, interesting, clean, and represents the diverse cultural and developmental needs of the clients. Prepare the rooms, order supplies, and maintain the group therapy space.
  • Work with co-therapists to provide and lead scheduled group services
  • Plan and implement therapeutic activities based on the child’s individual treatment plan goals and objectives, developmental needs, and therapeutic group themes
  • Lead a group environment that demonstrates consistency, respectful communication, safety, predictability, clear limits, and encouragement
  • Intervene respectfully, safely, and directly to maintain the children’s physical and emotional safety and use therapeutic approaches to help prevent aggressive, destructive, and harmful behavior
  • Ability to use and apply therapeutic methods learned through the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) which includes verbal de-escalation and therapeutic holds
  • Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
  • Work with co-therapists, program supervisors, and program support to maintain enrollment of 6 children and a daily attendance of 5 children in the group setting
  • Provide fill in support to cover group settings for co-therapists when needed
Position Schedule: Monday - Thursday 12:30p to 4:300p
