aldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) is seeking a Dispatcher
WCAP is a charitable, educational, 501(c)(3) private non-profit organization. It is designed to utilize and mobilize public and private resources to assist low-income Waldo County residents in the alleviation of poverty and address its underlying causes.
Openings are currently available in Belfast and Bath. This is a full-time, year-round position.
Sign on Incentive of $1,000 Available - $200 payable after successful completion of 90 days, $300 payable after successful completion of 6 months and $500 after successful completion of one year.
The Dispatcher, under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, is responsible for the coordination of assignments on regularly scheduled routes to meet the compliance of time schedules for safe and efficient transportation operations. This position places strong emphasis on routing, dispatch, data management, communication, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain client and driver information in database. Assigns trips as they become available using the least expensive, most reliable option through approved contractors. Verify availability of said contractors. Fosters a positive working relationship with outside agencies. Ability to identify and assess customer needs to improve their experience, especially with high-stress customers. Stay up to date with Federal and State regulations, safety and accident prevention measures, and actively participates in safety meetings as well as developmental opportunities. Immediate reporting of all accidents and unsafe conditions.

Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate. Assigned work may require travel within the local or neighboring communities. This position is a full-time hourly position that typically works normal daytime schedule. However, evening and week end time may be required to meet program and/or organizational needs. Participates in rotating on-call process during non-working hours, and overtime may also be required to meet program and/or organizational needs and requires prior approval
General Requirements:
- Must have adequate transportation, a valid driver's license and meet WCAP's insurance requirements.
- Must meet WCAP’s background clearance requirements.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and on-going random drug-alcohol testing.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
The following experience and skills are considered essential:
- At least two years of related office experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be flexible and able to work with multiple staff members.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and other specialized software specific to the
position.
- Must be familiar with Region 5 area.
- Must be trained in Easy Rides software within 30 days of hire.
Education Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
