Summary: The Quality Director is responsible for providing leadership to the quality organization and supervises all areas within Blending and Ingredient Control
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage/Develop quality team leads/supervisors and quality technicians by providing direct reports with leadership, direction and coaching to achieve work objectives nd improve performance and skills
- Develop/Administer the quality assurance department's budget
- Oversees quality laboratory operations to ensure that testing of products, packaging and ingredients meet specifications as well as ensuring all documentation are followed
- Coordinate incident management activities at the plant and serve as Program Owner for the plants documentation, record keeping, audit and corrective and preventative action processes/programs.
- Provide leadership for continuous improvement at the plant and report quality information as a part of the Management Review
- Interpret data from routine and non-routine analyses in order to validate what ingredients /materials/finished products meet specifications and approve for shipment to company plants
- Troubleshoot equipment (e.g., manufacturing, dispensing, equipment) by creating and/or using methods and tools such as Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action Systems (FRACS) and Mean Time Before Failure Analysis to resolve problems, evaluate improvements or determine /justify ways to improve efficiency and life cost
- Interact with and inform suppliers, internal/external customers and third party auditors with regard to sample analysis, auditing processes and quality issues/resolutions
- Supervise all Blending Technicians, Blending Leads, and Ingredient Control Technicians and Blending/IC
- Manage the Maintenance of the Blend Room and Ingredient Control Department by submitting work order and keeping inventory of parts & supplies
- Enforce GMP's to ensure all ingredients are kept at highest level of quality and are being stored to customer specifications
- Train all Supervisors, Blending Technicians and Ingredient Control Technicians
- Create and maintain SOP's for all aspects of Blending & Kitting
- Enforce Master Sanitation Schedule daily /weekly tasks amongst Blending Technicians & Ingredient Control Technicians and correct deficiencies
- Verify & Maintain Ingredient Inventory, enforce F.I.F.O principle
- Complete data entry of receipts, manufacturing orders and other SAP entries
- Adjust Blending & Kitting schedule to meet production needs
- Arrange to be present for Kitting & Blending of new or difficult products
- Respond to calls if there is an issue or question concerning any aspect relating to the quality or location of ingredients and respond to calls for batch adjustments and/or errors
- Ensure all logs, MO's, transfer sheets and inspection sheets are being completed accurately and completely
- Create and maintain customer formulas in CBG format
- Program Blending System based on above formula
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work in wet, humid, or outdoor conditions. The employee is also exposed to varying temperatures extremes including heat and cold as the weather varies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work on elevated platforms, with fumes or airborne particles, or with toxic or caustic chemicals. This employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
