StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is the state designated Local Authority for mental health and intellectual disabilities for Lubbock, Lynn, Hockley, Cochran and Crosby Counties and the Local Authority for substance use disorders for 41 counties in the West Texas region. StarCare is also a Texas Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and provides adult inpatient psychiatric services at Sunrise Canyon Hospital. StarCare is searching for a Director of Health Services to support the Aging and Disability Services divisions of the organization.
The Director of Health Services ensures the provision of healthcare services to those supported in the Aging & Disability Services Division, which consists of the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Program and the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). The position is responsible for leading the Healthcare Team in providing teaching, counseling and appropriate preventive and rehabilitative supports. The Director of Health Services is responsible to ensure the health care team assesses health needs and contributes to the plan of care, initial implementation of nursing care plans and provides nursing care, as well as periodic re-evaluation of individual nursing need. Leads the Healthcare Team to provide all -inclusive health and home care, possessing the technical, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate the scheduling, communication and billing documentation of all aspects of the plan efficiently and effectively. Supervises the Nursing Team to ensure regulatory compliance and quality while maintaining an optimal level of independence for enrollees. Demonstrates the Leadership knowledge and skills necessary to supervise a healthcare team to assess, plan and provide health care services to those supported in PACE, Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living (TXHMLV) according to assigned responsibilities and program standards.
Work is performed under minimal supervision of the Aging and Disability Services Director with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Work Hours: 8:00-5:00pm, Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet the needs of the programs.

- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, recognized by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Board Certified by an agency approved by the American Nurses Association.
- Must have skills and knowledge necessary to provide primary care, demonstration of successful management of other healthcare professionals in an aging and/or disability services area is preferred.
- At least (4) years of full-time paid related work experience, with at least five (4) years of experience in upper-level management and supervision within a large health and human services agency.
- Strong personnel and financial management skills, working knowledge of geriatrics and/or Intellectual Disabilities and 24-hour care delivery systems are required.
- Skill in written and verbal communication, and a demonstrated ability to lead nursing teams in the provision of quality services and supports is required.
- Skill and proficiency in oral and written communication, strategic planning, operating a personal computer, with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, and email).
- Knowledge and skill to operate standard office equipment and computer with Microsoft products.
- Must have current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under corporate insurance.
