As the Director, Associate Engagement, US People & Culture, at Novartis, you play a lead role in shaping the employee experience for all 14,000 US associates, supporting them in our curious, inspired and unbossed culture journey and engaging them in the Novartis business strategy. You create and tell the story by which our associates see themselves in our patients, our strategy and our future. Our associates are engaged at work because of the culture stories you create.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • What’s the story we want to tell? Lead development and execution of the people and culture communications strategy for the enterprise audience, aligned to and supportive of the overall IM US business
  • How do we tell the story? Focus on how to tell the story to IM US associates and all US in ways that have the biggest impact
  • Who participates in telling the story? Stay close to key stakeholders to make sure their voice is amplified and/or aligned
  • How should the story be experienced by associates? Lead cross-functional conversations to deliver a consistent experience for US associates through enterprise-wide engagement programs
  • Working with the Associate Engagement Executive Director (ED), help counsel and manage the people- and culture-related stakeholders at Novartis in the US and globally
  • Be the point-of-contact for all East Hanover-related communications, including NEM and other crisis preparations
  • Measure impact and progress of core programs and make recommendations based on results for future areas of focus
  • Show leadership within the full Associate Engagement team and mentor others are needed

Minimum requirements

What you will bring to this role:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work-related expertise, with a concentration in communications, public relations, journalism or change management
  • 10+ years or more of communications experience in a large, matrixed organization or agency setting
  • Fierce storyteller with the ability to turn business success and patient relationships into reasons to believe in the future
  • Ability to prioritize work for greatest business impact; Completely comfortable saying “no” to low-value, low-impact work
  • Tech-minded and creative with the ability to push boundaries as it relates to reaching associates on Novartis channels
  • Self-starter with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and coach others in the team and cross-functionally
  • Ability to take smart risks and learn from mistakes
  • Ability to provide strategic counsel and execute on change management
