As an Activities Specialist, you’ll be responsible for engaging adults with developmental differences in creative and meaningful activities to promote independence in a day habilitation program. You’ll help program participants develop the skills necessary to accomplish their goals.

Seven Hills ASPiRE!, an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, offers innovative and creative day programming that provides opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injury to develop skills necessary to pursue interests in employment, recreation, and social interaction.

What You’ll Do

Provide assistance as needed for program participants’ personal care needs including dining, toileting and transfers.

Develop and facilitate creative activities for skill development in individual and in small group settings with an emphasis on the development of age-appropriate behaviors.

Foster program participants’ growth with an emphasis on person-centered care through varied instruction methods, offering opportunities for choice-making, and encouraging independence in initiation of tasks to support the achievement of individual goals and objectives.

Encourage and support program participants in their pursuit toward individual goals, objectives, and personal interests designed to enhance their quality of life.

Drive agency vehicles to transport program participants as needed and assigned, to and from the program, community worksites, and community-based activities.

Treat all program participants, staff, and stakeholders with respect and dignity, and in and age and culturally appropriate manner.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver's license and ability to drive is required.

COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Preferred two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a day program or similar setting.

Frequent sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, carrying, grasping, bending, twisting, climbing, etc.

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion.

Ability to perform primary job functions while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends
