Day (United States of America) DIETITIANJob Description:
Responsible for providing all aspects of nutritional care to assigned patients. Meets or exceeds established standards of care and /or regulator agency guidelines. Provides supervision and guidance to diet office and support staff. Works with nurses, physicians and other health care providers to plan and implement nutritional care.
Screens/assesses assigned patients as per Standards of Care and meets threshold for timeliness of intervention.
Completes daily calorie counts on assigned patients. Documents results in medical record daily, including % kcal/protein goals met
Provides nutrition education on prescribed diet if indicated by nutrition assessment, patient interview and/or nutrition consult
Provides diet instructions that are individualized for patient’s food preferences, education and comprehension level, and includes pertinent family members or other(s)as indicated. Instructs using approved, professional-looking materials.
Consults with physicians, nursing staff, and other team members concerning the nutritional needs of assigned patients.
Attends Interdisciplinary Patient Care Meetings as assigned and documents appropriately in Multidisciplinary Care Plans for assigned patients as indicated.
Participates in the development and maintenance of clinical QI programs, including daily record of patient care and daily patient drug/nutrient interaction log.
Assists Clinical Nutrition Manager in ongoing development and revision of Standards of Care to reflect current Medical Nutrition Therapy practices.
Assists in the on the job training of new diet office staff or clinical dietitians. Assists in the coordination of diet office staff, supervision, and daily operations. Serves as a role model for department through attendance and punctuality, adherence to professional standards and ethics, and daily actions.
Maintains registration and state licensure status through continuing education and seeks out educational opportunities pertinent to career goals and interests. Annually completes Age-Specific Competency training and checklist with Clinical Nutrition Manager and attends Age-Specific department inservices as scheduled throughout the year.

Required Licenses
[Massachusetts, United States] Dietitian and Nutritionist
MA License for Dietitians and Nutritionists.
Registration with Commission on Dietetic Registration required & membership with Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and food handling certificate preferred.
