Job Description:
O & M Technician/Contract Manager position acting as a technical focal point of contact. The Contract Manager will provide operation support for the two Solar Mars Generator packages at the USG/Otsego Paper Mill in Otsego, Michigan.
Fully engaged in Solar Health Safety and Security (HSSE) program. Participate in the review and/or investigation of incident reports submitted for assigned full-service contract. Work with Solar Region/District personnel to ensure that Workplace Hazard Assessments (WHA) are performed and current. Be involved in all HSSE communications between the Solar Region/District office and the customer. Attend customer safety meetings and provide input, leveraging Solar Region / District HSSE personnel for support as required.
Complete all facility reporting such as production, downtime, maintenance, trending/performance, invoicing, and financial reporting.
Oversee inventory utilization and management; determine on-site spares definition, quantity levels, and purchasing requirements.
Manage outside services: vendor selection; negotiate prices, terms, and conditions; contract services; define scope; approve equipment rentals/leases.
Direct maintenance scheduling considering contractual obligations and customer requirements, within the business plan, budget, and financial constraints.
Review any deviation of individual equipment performance from standards as corrected for site conditions including the gas turbine engine, driven equipment and approve corrective action plan.
Utilizing the InSight System capabilities to provide plant key performance indicators and value-added results on a monthly basis, providing required communication to the customer and or Solar management.
Serve as the primary contact with customer; provide a positive plant image that can be displayed to prospective customers.
The Contract Manager’s primary responsibilities related to the Covered Equipment are as follows:
(1) Provide support in the form of a dedicated Solar single point of contact
(2) Review InSight Platform reports, diagnostics, Live View and forecast engine exchanges
(3) Coordinate failure analysis and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis
(4) Manage Customer owned service parts inventory
(5) Monitor and record operation and maintenance data
(6) Monitor Covered Equipment performance
(7) Monitor exhaust emissions and assist with site-specific emission reports
(8) Schedule elective shutdown periods
(9) Propose methods to maximize Covered Equipment performance and service life, and
minimize energy costs
(10) Conduct Facility Performance Reviews and Reporting
(11) Investigate and suggest improvements for increasing Covered Equipment performance
(12) Recommend Facility upgrades and/or equipment retrofits
(13) Coordinate Solar technical support
(14) Coordinate OEM technical support on Balance-of-Plant equipment
(15) Make recommendations on staffing for Equipment operation and maintenance
(17) Provide on-going on-the-job training
(18) Establish and document O&M practices for equipment
(19) Coordinate equipment support of plant manufacturing operations
(20) Be available to consult with Customer on regulatory issues and utility issued from an
equipment performance standpoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum educational requirement – Technical degree / Formal Certification / Military or 5 to 8 years equivalent experience in Oil & Gas or Power Generation industries.
  • Problem solving/analysis skills.
  • Basic financial and commercial awareness.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical aptitude, and turbomachinery knowledge.
  • Proven track record regarding safety compliance.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment/dependability.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
