SUMMARY

The Content Specialist will support the UnidosUS Marketing and Communications team by creating content for communications and marketing purposes across the organization. The person will also edit and revise content from across UnidosUS’s components for grammar, style, and messaging in accordance with UnidosUS’s style guide. This position reports to the Senior Director of Content Development and is hybrid, preferably based out of Washington, DC.

Salary: $57,790 - $68,082


Essential Functions

  • Create and produce content for print, web, digital, and audiovisual materials used for UnidosUS’s communications and marketing needs.
  • Help conceptualize and implement content to be used in campaigns across multiple issue areas.
  • Edit written content for use across our channels, including but not limited to media (press releases, media advisories, blog posts, op-eds, website content); marketing assets (ads, e-blasts, invites, save-the-dates); digital channels (social media assets, video scripts, website content); development/fundraising (appeals, newsletters); policy (action alerts, advocacy materials, research reports and other organizational publications); and other written content from across UnidosUS components.
  • Contribute to updating the UnidosUS style guide and other writing resources.
  • Support the development and delivery of webinars and writing training for new and current staff.
  • Keep track of current and upcoming projects.
  • Attend meetings with UnidosUS components as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, and/or Communications required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Superior, demonstrable English writing and editing skills and a drive for perfection.
  • Strong knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and AP style.
  • Demonstrated willingness to experiment across content types and areas.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide responsive, personable, and informed support regarding written content.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have familiarity with the issues faced by the U.S. Hispanic community.
  • An eye for clean design in graphic and web layouts.
  • Steadfast commitment to UnidosUS mission, vision, and values of (Excellent, Accountability, Respeto).
  • Commitment to the U.S. Latino community, Latino non-profit organizations, and the Latino market.
  • Comprehensive fact-checking skills.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
