Consultant - Automated Guided Vehicle Systems
Job description
Job Summary: This position will lead the system design of the automated guided vehicle system and will require in depth knowledge of AGV systems as well as all related automated systems such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). The AGV consultant will be responsible for performing all efforts to begin system design through installation of the system through the Construction Administration service phase for completion.
Healthcare experience including knowledge of hospital department functions, flows and materials and items being transported within a hospital is a must. Architectural and Construction experience is required to understand drawings, specifications and building design to work with architects for modifications during design for system functionality.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. They are not intended to prescribe or restrict the assignments that may be made by management.
Program and adjust a system cart matrix that will provide the required transport of all materials to use the AGV with proper throughput for any given healthcare or industrial facility.- Function as a third-party unbiased consultant providing neutral guidance for system design and bid documents to enable bidding by multiple vendors to meet the project criteria.
- Lead architectural meetings including other subconsultants with technical system details for coordination.
- Discover and correct fatal flaws in system design or revisions by others that may negatively impact system performance.
- Perform various analyses to create and adjust system design, building spaces and operations.
- Perform on-site inspections during system installation to adhere to specifications.
- Creating reports to provide findings and recommendations.
- Learning the other areas of this consulting group for related automated transport systems such as pneumatic tubes and chute systems as well as material management/supply chain, waste management, loading docks and sterile instrument processing in healthcare, commercial, and industrial facilities.
- Business development with clients, proposal writing and project invoicing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Education, Skills, and Experience:
Detailed knowledge of AGV systems from all large global manufacturers- Knowledge of each vendors components and features including vehicles, navigation systems, and capabilities.
- Knowledge of vertical transportation systems (elevators) performance, types and throughput to interface with the AGVS
- Project management and communication skills to provide timely deliverables, develop and maintain client relations, monitor work scope and financials in contract and lead internal effort for assistance.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
- Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering or related field and or having performed the required duties with an AGV manufacturer.
- At least 5 years of experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this position, an employee is are regularly required to use communication skills; read and interpret complex data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret people and situations; learn and apply new skills and information rapidly; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequently changing deadlines and interruptions; and interact with LB Executives, Project Managers and Administrative Assistants as well as clients, members of governmental agencies, professional and community organizations and committees, the media and the public.
