POSITION DESCRIPTION: PERIKIN is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to help manage all construction project aspects. The Project Engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to Assisting Project Managers and/or a Superintendent in the daily administration and support of construction and office operations, organization and coordination of workload, and project management documentation for multiple project teams. Assist the Project Manager with budget analysis, submittals, quality control, tracking, project documentation, and record keeping. Compile, maintain, and track submittals, change orders, operation and maintenance (O&M's), manuals, and other project-specific documentation. Assist with document control, including filing systems, file maintenance, data entry, certified payrolls, project expense reports, invoicing, and updating various project logs.PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Assist in the development of cost estimates quantity take off and coordination with trade partners
Review plans and other technical documents
Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project to trade partners/clients
Monitor costs and project progress
Maintain control of all project documentation
Create, manage, and track RFI's from the field to the architect/engineer of record
Assist the project manager/superintendent in creating and distributing the project schedule
Assist project team with conflict resolution between owner, contractor, and subcontractor
Work with Quality Control Manager to facilitate the submittals process and manage communication from subcontractors to A/E for approval
Assist project manager/owner in getting building permits for the project
Understand appropriate building codes/ regulations
Coordinate project change-order management, and creation in Procore
Conduct and document weekly project owner's meetings/decisions
Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination
Assist the project team with the closeout of the project
Assist project accountant/project manager with monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications
Assist project manager with assigned tasks
Create and process primary and subcontract change orders (CO's) EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
3 to 5 of varied experience as a field engineer/coordinator is preferred; time acquired during internships in the field may count as experience
Experience in working on Federal Contracts
Working knowledge of Procore software
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Basic understanding of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety, and environment (SSHO), quality, building materials, and required standards as per the subject area
Ability to learn new software per contracts
Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and direct-report tasks
Able to create and lead schedules on a comprehensive scale
Ability to formulate subcontracts and administer subcontracts and contract documents
Strong organization skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong financial and budgeting skills, i.e., Schedule of Values (SOV), Monthly Projections, etc
Strong purchasing skills include writing purchase orders (PO's) and logging the same
Ability to positively represent the organization to customers, the public, the government, and other external sources (This information may be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail) BENEFITS:
