Position Summary
A full-time position, reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Communications Specialist will support the organization with the creative development and distribution of written communications. This role will oversee content specific to both internal and external audiences, including, but not limited to, press releases and feature articles, print and electronic marketing collateral, website, social media, board communications, appeals, presentations, emails and newsletters. Additionally, this position will be charged with ensuring communications produced by outside entities representing PHC (Whole Child Initiative, third-party partners) are appropriate, well-written, grammatically correct and PHC brand compliant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist VP Marketing in overall messaging strategy and agency relationships
- Responsible for development and distribution of communications for multiple internal and external audiences, i.e. staff, board, alumni, volunteers, foster/mentor families, mission teams, churches, donors and others.
- Write a variety of content to support marketing efforts, including newsletters, website/email copy, presentations and print collateral
- Develop and implement PR strategy increasing public awareness and engagement; Develop relationships with key media outlets to ensure favorable coverage
- Maintain internal intranet communication and support engagement for all staff.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices
- Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications strategies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, marketing or English and three years verifiable work experience in field of work that correlates directly with the duties and responsibilities required of this position, preferably public relations, or corporate communications.
- Strong written communication skills. Strong editing and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality deliverables while coordinating multiple projects.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; team player, ability to communicate tactfully, maturely, and to demonstrate flexibility.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
- Resourceful, well organized, dependable, and efficient.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign.
- High energy level, self-starter, and willing to take initiative.
- Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct.
