General Description
The Communications Generalist is responsible for assisting the Communications Manager in managing the company’s overall communication efforts through development, implementation, and execution. This includes creating various types of internal and external communications and ensuring that they are delivered through the appropriate channels, including support of the customer experience program. Assists in managing the company’s corporate social media accounts and assists in managing public relations initiatives, including the customer experience program, to develop and maintain a favorable image with customers, the community and within the corporation itself.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists in managing the development and implementation of the company’s communication plans and strategies, including internal and external communications and the organization’s overall public relations initiatives. This duty is performed about 30% of the time.
- Executes communication plans and strategies by drafting various types of communications, including press releases, customer communications, and associate communications. Manages the delivery of communications through the appropriate channel. This duty is performed about 25% of the time.
- Assists in maintaining and regularly updating the company's Intranet to foster connections with associates and share information. Researches and drafts news stories, and makes necessary updates to various Intranet pages and encourages regular usage by associates. This duty is performed about 15% of the time.
- Assists in managing the company's corporate social media accounts and creates relevant content to promote the company. Analyzes social media post metrics to identify which types of content perform well. Boosts/promotes social media posts using various demographics (location, interests, age, etc.) to ensure content reaches the appropriate audience. This duty is performed about 15% of the time.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets public opinion/sentiment, including customer experience data, to determine how the organization should handle sensitive issues, both internally and externally. Helps ensure that each issue is balanced, contributes to the organization’s positive image, and is representative of the organization’s ongoing operations and objectives. This duty is performed 10% of the time.
- Works on a variety of special projects, reports, and other activities. This duty is performed 5% of the time.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Reads, writes, and communicates in a clear and efficient manner via various types of correspondence, such as, in person, phone, email, letters, etc. Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable banking rules, regulations, and laws (including BSA/AML).
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or related field or four years equivalent relevant work experience
- 2 years of related experience and/or training is preferred
- Regular use of desktop/laptop computer, basic operating systems, and specialized software systems.
- Intermediate experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Processing; basic experience with accounting and alphanumeric data entry
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
