Job Title: Clinical Therapist

* This position is full time, 37.5 hours per week. Please note, some evening hours required, bi-lingual preferred.*
SUMMARY
Assess the needs of children and their families, develop treatment plans, provide clinical consultation to Early Childhood teaching and case management staff, and monitor level of care provided. Evaluate parent/child relationships as assigned. Contribute to the development of the therapeutic environment of Early Childhood programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide therapeutic child development programs for children who cannot be maintained in community day care settings, or are referred by Early Intervention programs, DCYF, their parents, or physicians.
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems.
- Provide treatment services for parents as delineated in the treatment plan and program guidelines.
- Support teaching staff by participating in instructional opportunities, using age and developmentally appropriate procedures.
- Provide parenting skills training individually or in a group.
Demonstrate professionalism in communication and collaboration with children, families, colleagues, and community.
- Understand and interpret EC program philosophy and treatment approach to families, EC staff, and potential referral sources.
- Treat consumers and their families with respect.
- Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
- Exhibit sensitivity and understanding of individual and cultural differences.
- Provide an appropriate role model for children in areas of dress, language, and behavior.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Center policies and perform duties in accordance with their guidelines.
- Maintain reliable attendance, promptness, and dependability.
- Participate in EC team meetings.
Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the children’s and families’ networks of care.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health resources in the community.
- Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.
- Facilitate referrals to other appropriate service providers.
Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements within required time frame.
- Complete progress notes with appropriate format.
- Complete a clear, specific, behaviorally oriented treatment plan as required with consumer input.
Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.
- Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.
- Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.
Occasional Duties:
- Serve on appropriate Center committees.
- Provide clinical supervision to assigned students and interns.
- Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Social Work and several years of clinical experience with young children and their families. Knowledge of child development, therapeutic techniques/interventions with children and their families required. Prior experience in educational setting and multidisciplinary team preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with consumers, community agencies and Center employees.
