Division Chief of Rheumatology. This role is an opportunity to have a rewarding career and make a significant impact in the community. The Division of Rheumatology includes extensive clinical expertise in the full range of rheumatologic diseases within the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.
This individual will be responsible for serving the community by building and transforming Rheumatology care delivery throughout the enterprise. The Chief of Rheumatology will have clinical duties aligned with their specialty and will be a member of the Hoag medical staff. The candidate will be expected to practice clinical inpatient rheumatology and office-based care, 80% of the time and will spend 20% of the time developing and managing the rheumatology program including developing hospital coverage with other rheumatologists in the community. Hoag has two main hospital campuses, located in Newport Beach and in Irvine. The duties encompass the provision of clinical services in the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research and philanthropic efforts.
Clinical Duties include:
- Management of staffing and care delivery of the service, including an emergency and inpatient consult service, and ambulatory clinics.
- Oversight of strategic planning, resource allocation, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives for the Rheumatology Division.
- Partnering with hospital staff to accomplish regulatory compliance and the safest and highest quality care.
- Collaborate with chief clinical officer on all matters related to clinical coverage of services throughout the region.
- Ensure high quality patient care through the development and standardization of care processes and protocols, educational seminars, metrics, outcome measures, and process improvement initiatives.
- Develop a culture of service and scholarship in quality improvement and outcomes.
- Oversee the productivity of physicians and support staff, ensuring financial stewardship.
- Develop innovative and state of the art clinical programs in rheumatological diseases.
- Oversee research activities.
- Participate in philanthropic efforts to develop community-based rheumatology services.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted California medical license.
- Candidates must be board certified in in Rheumatology at the time of appointment.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Rheumatologist.
- Program Development and Leadership experience is preferred to be successful in this role.
- CA medical license in good standing
