POSITION SUMMARY:
Accurately prepares and administers medications to residents and documents administration of medications to residents accordingly. QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a current Certified Medication Aide certification from the State of Texas.
Ability to understand, remember to carry out oral and written instructions in English.
Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents or clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accurately prepare, administer and document medications as prescribed. Immediately report any errors to Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing.
Accurately take and record vital signs.
Accurately count and sign medication administration record for controlled drugs.
Safely lift, move and transfer resident or client as required. This involves the ability to safely transfer residents or clients who cannot bear their own weight. Is also involves the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting in excess of 150 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations; manual dexterity required performing tasks in assisting residents or clients with their personal needs.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Six (6) months of experience in healthcare or completion of the Office's preceptor program.
- Aide training and competency evaluation program as required by state and federal regulations
- A nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the State and meets the requirements of the federal regulations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Two (2) positive references
- Evidence of passing a home health aide written knowledge exam.
- Pass state required background checks are required.
- Able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of the workforce.
