NEEDED: CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA)
LOCATION: 1001 Willow Street, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, AL 36112
HOURS: 40 Hours per week
SHIFTS: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a high school certificate of graduation or GED.
- Must be certified as a Medical Assistant.
- Must have six (6) months of documented experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Hold a current CPR -Health Care Provider certification.
- Have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, and ethics backgrounds.
- Have knowledge of routine office related duties including working knowledge of computers and word processing programs.
- Must possess the ability to file various documents in chronological order and electronically.
- Possess good organizations skills, good interpersonal relationship skills, and be able to work effectively with the Clinical Director.
DUTIES: All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Medical Assistant Services, and compliant with all Federal and State policies and regulations (not limit to):
- Provide chair side assistance to the Clinical Director and Medical officers.
- Assists Registered Nurses in performing patient care activities for inmate patients to include, but not limited to EKGS, sick call log, Administer medication, vaccinations and documentation in BEMR.
- Maintains sanitation of patient care areas and observes infection control procedures and universal precautions in all instances.
- Procures proper equipment needed, maintains clean and sterile fields, secures specimens for laboratory analysis, (i.e., urine, stool, sputum, etc.), labels specimens, and transports them to the laboratory.
- Drawing and processing blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes.
- Collecting and processing urinalysis and point of care tests in the lab.
- Reports pertinent data in a timely manner to the medical staff including changes in patient’s condition requiring assessment and/or further intervention.
- Communicates any changes in behavior, vital signs, or significant incidents to the Physician, Mid-Level Provider or Clinical Nurse.
- Utilizes good body mechanics when transferring and/or assisting patients.
- Safely transports patients in wheelchairs and/or on gurneys.
- Clerical duties such as scheduling of patient appointments, maintaining daily activity logs, maintaining stock supplies, and identifying supplies needing to be ordered.
- Follows guidelines which require confidentiality with all patient information.
- Performs other duties as directed, including but not limited to filing and/or scanning medical documents into patients EMR and stamping chart forms, etc.
- Checks patient vital signs and weight and documents this data and pertinent observations in the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR).
- Charts patient care given and other data on the flow sheet and/or graphic sheet.
- Maintaining accountability of instruments and other medical supplies.
- Performing equipment maintenance per manufacturer and/or Clinical Director instructions. Accomplishing minor repairs to keep equipment in proper operating condition.
- Participating in or completing Improving Organizational Performance (IOP) activities and/or studies.
- Participation in emergency training exercises and maintaining skills in operation of emergency equipment.
- Provide Clinical Director’s approved patient education to inmate patients.
- Assists with dressing changes and removes dressings at the direction of the physician.
- Responsible for all other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or designee.
