Job Overview:
As a Capital Markets Analyst, you will have the ability to join a growing team and make significant contributions to the firm’s success. The Capital Markets team is responsible for Cortland’s fundraising, portfolio management, and client relation activities. This role will provide the opportunity for you to gain exposure to our external investor base as well as other team members across the organization.
Roles You Will Play:

The Data Expert

  • Assist with fund’s quarterly and annual reporting requirements to deliver accurate and timely information to consultants and investors
  • Support the fund’s quarterly valuation policies, which involves working with third-party appraisers to determine the fair value of the fund’s real estate investments and debt instruments to strike the fund’s net asset value (NAV) on a quarterly basis
  • Help create presentation materials and deliverables for Cortland’s investment committee, as well as current and prospective investors and other stakeholders

The Liaison


  • Collaborate with Capital Markets team members to support the fund’s capital raising efforts
  • Assist with the completion of investor questionnaires and ad-hoc analyses in an efficient manner
  • Work with the Asset Management and Operations teams to monitor performance of existing investments
  • Help construct financial analyses to measure key performance indicators and performance relative to budget, which will be leveraged to make asset-level decisions aimed at maximizing value and driving investment performance

  • Enhance the Capital Markets fund raising engine by owning, managing, and living in our investor deliverable database.
  • Champion the on-time submission of various investor deliverables to 80+ clients ranging from high net worth to institutional capital partners.
  • Join a growing team and forge a path to deep knowledge of every part of the Cortland business model.

Building Blocks of Success:
  • Critical thinker and self-starter capable of accomplishing a task with limited guidance and supervision
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant Real Estate experience (multifamily preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • Self-driven and proactive with extremely strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated interest in real estate, finance, business, or related area with a strong intellectual curiosity
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
