The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a temporary Camp Security job opening for Camp Paradise Valley located in Burkesville, KY. Job Summary Monitors and ensures the safety and well-being of camp facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with housing rules and policies and to protect the safety of camp staff and children. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of security practices and procedures. Ability to influence and control human behavior and enforce security rules and guidelines.

Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner. Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Education and Experience Six months experience working with the public with experience work in a security or social service environment preferred, Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications Valid and Current Driver’s License, CPR and First Aid Certification Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Some physical requirements of the Camp Security position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.

Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate security equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Additional Information Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 8 - 11, 2023 and participation is required.

The 2023 Summer Camp program will be held June 12 – July 14, 2023. If you are unable to work the entire program session, please let us know on your application.
