Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Analyst is a key role providing consultation to leadership in alignment with Hoag’s mission, vision, values, and highest-quality care. This position utilizes existing metrics and generates new reports to bring insightful information to leaders to proactively manage business lines. The Business Analyst will leverage resources, information, and expertise of multiple functions within the department to successfully develop and deliver scalable, customer-focused metrics and dashboards to the organization. This position analyzes trends, understands operational needs, and translates data into actionable insights that enable the organization to meet its goals. Areas of support can include business administrative processes as well as quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develops project plans and ensures that implementations are completed in a timely manner and meets expectations.
- Ensures program/project schedules are maintained and up-to-date.
- Partners internally and externally to make effective business decisions.
- Recommends process efficiencies and enhancements to eliminate potential process gaps. Streamlines and strengthens current operational processes and internal controls when building future workflows; incorporates leading practices in future state workflows.
- Participates in education of management and front line staff on the effective application of process management methods and continuous improvement concepts and how to apply and actively use them in their daily work
- Participates and able to facilitate meetings with interdisciplinary teams guiding the group to appropriate and useful outcomes
- Creates data collection processes that assist in extracting data and optimizes statistical efficiency and quality
- Develops and implements key department performance indicators and other data analyses; works with data and performs analysis to identify and report to leadership opportunity areas and efficiency
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Business/Healthcare Administration or other related field
- Two years’ experience in related field
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable with large data sets and modeling
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Preferred:
- Previous experience in performance/process improvement projects including but not limited to Lean, Six Sigma methodologies
- Advanced training or experience in performing statistical, financial and strategic analyses
- Master’s degree in health-care related field
- Experience managing healthcare-related projects and familiarity with healthcare provider industry
- Experience with Qlikview, EPIC
- IDX, Touchworks
