Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Behavior Specialist for the 2023-2024 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Behavior Specialist you are required to:

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, child development, special education or closely related field with an emphasis on behavior.
• Current Ohio teaching certificate or licensure commensurate with position.
• Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate in professional development sessions.
• Be willing to serve on teams.
• Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role.

• Collaborate with school leadership in implementation of a School Wide Positive Behavior Supports System (PBIS) to address the needs of all students, using a tiered intervention model.
• Implementation of restorative justice, including providing direct restorative services to staff, students & families.
• Provide coaching and technical support to school staff in the successful implementation and practice restorative justice.
• Assist in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors.
• Maintain and analyze documentation of student progress collaboratively with classroom teachers to drive behavior intervention plans.
• Develop and deliver individualized and group professional learning experiences for teachers in best practices in classroom management, positive behavior support, and cultural responsiveness.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify students in need of behavioral intervention.
• Model, coach, and observe implementation of positive classroom management techniques.
• Monitor data on suspension procedures/rates and disproportionality to ensure compliance with the Office of Exceptional Children (OEC).
• Conduct workshops and trainings, in classroom management techniques, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), De-escalation skills, Restorative Practices, Autism, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) trauma informed care and cultural responsiveness.

What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, Teachers work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.

Please note:
The Board of Education is currently working on a new professional agreement. While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement as to pay and benefits that are in place for the 2022-23 school year.
