Position: Associate Director of College Counseling

Job Summary:

Our college counseling team seeks an Associate Director of College Counseling to join our community in supporting an assigned caseload of students and their families through the college admission process. Candidates must be professionals who are empathetic and strong communicators with current knowledge of secondary and higher education trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior experience in college admissions or as a high school college counselor
  • Current (dated within a year) clearances

Essential Duties:

  • Advises, guides, and supports a caseload of approximately 40-45 students through the college selection and application process and curriculum planning.
  • Working collaboratively as a member of the college counseling team, including assisting with various campus programs and taking on special projects and assignments as determined by the Director.
  • Co-teaches college seminar course for juniors and seniors
  • Coordinates the program and calendar of all standardized testing for students including scheduling test dates, registering students, working with vendors for additional “prep” sessions, administering tests, and providing pre-and post-test counseling; communicates program and calendar to students, teachers and parents.
  • Develops extensive summary reports on students’ progress on standardized testing.
  • Writes comprehensive and timely school recommendations in support of assigned student applications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college admission professionals while staying current in the college admission profession.
  • Represent Malvern Prep by visiting colleges and participating in various conferences and workshops.
  • Maintains knowledge of the athletic, instructional and extracurricular programs of the school and utilizes this information in working with staff, students, parents and others to enable students to obtain maximum benefit from their school experience.
  • Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.
  • Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent.
  • Actively participates in various meetings, such as departmental, academy team, administration, school meetings, etc.
  • Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience – students, parents and all other staff.

  • Good team player and very reliable in working without close supervision.
  • Passionate about actively supporting the School’s mission.
