Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Primary Responsibilities: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)

· Working Safely – Conduct Twice-monthly safety audits; Daily safety action meetings; equipment safety training as required; Show employee involvement in working safely so that each employee knows that working safely is a condition of employment; with the ultimate result is a continuous reduction of OSHA events to zero.

· 5-Star Guest Services – Use the Quarterly Golf Maintenance Leadership Report Card to maintain 5-star quality levels, Complete Employee Performance and Feedback reports on time; Maintain Budget Compliance, Daily/weekly Course Inspection and Evaluation (F&G criteria); Personal Enthusiasm to provide motivation & leadership to your subordinates.

· Working Efficiently – Implement integration between courses to control costs and hands-on involvement by superintendents, and setting measurable task standards for your employees. Implement Employee Standard Operating Procedures at all times.

· Communicating Effectively – Conduct June evaluations, morning briefings, guest speakers, current photos, bulletin boards, and memos from HR. Communicate the 7 survey components and 10 safety principles. Participate developing our weekly Turf Newsletter.

Secondary Responsibilities:

· Keep accurate and complete records on inventory, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, and time and attendance

· Maintain facilities and equipment to create a safe and professional work environment

Normal Working Hours: (Shift, days)

· 6am to 3pm, 7 days March through November

· 7 am to 3 pm, 5 days a week, Dec through February

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria

Past Work Experience Requirements: (Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)

· A combination of 2 years as an intern, crew member, assistant at a notable 18 hole (or more) golf course

Educational Requirements: (Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)

· High School Diploma or G.E.D. required

· Associates and, or Bachelors Degree in Turf Management, or Agronomy from an accredited college preferred

Communication Skills Requirements: (Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)

· Write and interpret memos and documents

Technical Requirements:

· Knowledge of the care and operation of remote control automatic irrigation system and its pumping station

Required Supervision: (Reports to, Supervision provided, number of people to supervise)

· Responsible for supervision of Golf Course Maintenance Staff

· Reports to Director of Golf Maintenance and or Golf Course Superintendent

Other Requirements:

· Consistent demonstration of the Ten Essential Attributes

· Possess or obtain a West Virginia Pesticide License in Turf and Ornamentals

· Subject to changing weather conditions

· Fulfill the requirements of Golf Maintenance Managers Standards
