Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Marketing, Publicity, and Communications will direct the marketing, publicity, and communications efforts of the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position will oversee the coordination of communications platforms, print materials, social media, and the office website in order to administer a single, comprehensive publicity and communications plan. This position will ensure consistent content across all communications and will represent the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships in University efforts toward standardization in appearance of print materials and website presence.

This position will assess the effectiveness of the various facets of the comprehensive publicity and communications plan, as well as the utilization rate of the various sections of the office website, in order to ensure that resources are being used in the best manner possible. Oversees all aspects of the OSFAS role in new student orientation, to include planning, presentations, and resource fair participation. Supervises the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Public Information Coordinator, and student employees, in meeting these goals and objectives.

May be eligible for hybrid work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3 year professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material, or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with or background/knowledge of formal communications orally, (written, electronic, verbal, and social media), public speaking, and basic knowledge of website content management techniques. Experience in a large, complex institution of higher education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of federal/state/institutional/other related laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices required for responsible and compliant administration; ability to exercise responsible discretion in providing service; ability to establish and maintain professional relationships; ability to communicate orally and written to a diverse student population; knowledge of general counseling skills, general enrollment management responsibilities, and higher education public relations expectations. Thorough knowledge and understanding of successful financial aid administration and service to students from socio-economic challenged backgrounds as well as a desire for ongoing professional and leadership development.
